After waiting 29 months for a second public “consultation”, and this one less than a week after announcing a “preferred option” (without NCC approval) and proclaiming that all Carling routes were dead, why is the city rushing to enshrine this new option?
Time matters: The last open house held on the western LRT extension was in November 2010. It was 29 months until the next one (that was Thursday). And even though the city staff had just announced its preferred route this week, the transportation committee is set to debate — and vote on — the new route on June 5. That’s unacceptable: it’s simply not enough time for people to digest and respond to such a major issue.
